Care Jobs in the UK for People from Durango

Are you looking for a new career path within an emotionally rewarding role? If so, Christies Care is searching for people to travel to the UK to become Live in Carers.

Established in 1987, Christies Care is a family owned and run, award winning live-in home care agency which has grown to be one of the largest providers of 24 hour, 7 day a week care in the UK. We are one of only three live-in care agencies to be rated Outstanding by our regulator (CQC), thanks to the extremely high quality of the carers we recruit, the excellent, free training they undertake and the high quality of support our carer’s receive.

We are looking for caring, hard-working individuals in the Durango area to become Christies Carers. In addition to being an emotionally rewarding job, our live-in home carers receive the highest quality training and support available in the country, earning between £500 and £800 per week (approx. €565 - 900 per week) with free room & board.

In our most recent survey, 19 out of 20 carers said that they would recommend being a Christies Care live-in carer to a friend. In fact 54% of our current carers came to us through a recommendation from a friend!

What is a live-in carer?

Working as a live-in carer is more than just a job, it’s an opportunity to help people live independent and fulfilling lives; helping them stay in their own home.

You will live with your client, giving them as much help and care as they need while enabling them to live as independently as possible. This could be in Durango but we can't guarantee this as our clients are all over the UK.

If your client needs help with cooking and cleaning the house, you’ll help; if they need help moving, you’ll help; if they need help with medication, you’ll help; if they need help washing or going to the toilet, you’ll help; and if they want to go for a walk, but are nervous of falling, you’ll be there to offer an arm.

Most importantly, as a live-in carer, you are there to offer your client companionship, so they have stimulation, someone to talk to, someone to play cards with, or just the knowledge that there is someone else there.

We know that this work sounds tough, but it is so rewarding.

And we thoroughly assess our clients, the tasks they want their carers to carry out, living conditions and the carer’s break times. This assessment makes sure that the workload and conditions are suitable for a live-in carer. We are quite strict about this – we know that if a live-in carer has good working conditions, they can do a better job.

A live-in care job entails:

  • Personal Care
  • Medication
  • Moving and Handling
  • Continence Management
  • Cooking and Housekeeping
  • Companionship

What makes a good carer?

  • Organised
  • Honest
  • Reliable
  • Respectful
  • A good listener
  • Empathetic
  • Trustworthy
  • Flexible
  • Good communication skills
  • Have clear spoken and written English
  • Good housekeeping and cooking skills

To apply to work as a live-in carer for Christies Care, you'll need to:

  • have a British passport,

  • have an EU passport,

  • or qualify for an Ancestral visa (to qualify you need a grandparent to have been born in the UK).

So you want to be a carer?

Ask our carers what it's like being a live-in carer with Christies Care.

Being a live-in carer can be a challenging and unpredictable job, but it is also an extremely rewarding position. Every day, when you care for someone, you will be making a huge difference to that person and their family; and sharing some extraordinary moments.

A live-in carer can come from any background, with any experience. Our carers have been secretaries, bank managers, mothers, nurses, soldiers and teachers.

Some were carers for hourly-care agencies or care homes who wanted the time to be able to care for people properly; some have no professional experience at all.

We will give you all the training you need, all we ask is that you are a caring, hard-working, patient, flexible person, who will use your initiative to make your clients happy.

We offer our live-in carers a unique combination of financial commitment, range of clients, flexibility and training. We sort everything out before you get here.

No other agency does as much as us to help its carers.

  • We give you a free two week induction training course.
  • We also have a guest-house where you can stay for free while receiving your training.
  • We support you thoroughly, especially over your first few weeks.
  • We guarantee your earnings. Terms and conditions apply.
  • We have a room for you if things go wrong.
  • We have clients all over the UK, including the Channel Islands.
  • We give you advanced training if you want to concentrate on a certain client type.

So, if you have a caring nature, a willingness to learn and the desire to improve the life of those around you, we would like to hear from you.

You don’t need any experience, you just need to have the right attitude and be legally allowed to work in the UK.
